1. Friday quiz
15–20 min · Any, in teams people · both
How it works: Ten general-knowledge questions, answered in teams. Keep a running leaderboard across the month so there's a reason to come back next Friday.
Why it works: A weekly quiz becomes a ritual fast, and the monthly champion takes it more seriously than anything on their task list.
With TeamPlay: TeamPlay marks every answer and keeps the score, so whoever hosts this week only has to read the questions. See how it plays.
2. Pick-your-category trivia
15 min · Any, in teams people · both
How it works: Each team chooses the category it knows best (sitcoms, films, sport, music) and answers questions from it.
Why it works: Every team gets to show off, so the people who never win general trivia finally have a chance.
With TeamPlay: In Superfan each captain picks a category and narrows it to the topics the team knows best. See how it plays.
3. Survey says
10–15 min · 6+ people · both
How it works: Teams guess the most popular answers to prompts like "An excuse for being late to a meeting." The top answer pays the most.
Why it works: Feels like a TV game show, and the answers are relatable to everyone at the company.
With TeamPlay: Teams type guesses and each right one flips over on the board for whoever found it first. See how it plays.
4. Finish the sentence
10 min · 6+ people · both
How it works: Put up a prompt with a gap ("The office would run better if ___"). Everyone writes an ending and the room votes for the funniest.
Why it works: The best way to end a week: low effort, lots of laughs, and the quiet ones are often the funniest.
With TeamPlay: Punchline keeps entries anonymous until the votes are in. See how it plays.
5. Emoji Pictionary
15–20 min · 6+ people · both
How it works: One player describes a word using only emoji while their team guesses. No letters or numbers allowed.
Why it works: Pictionary for people who can't draw, which is most people.
With TeamPlay: Imojination gives the drawer an emoji canvas the room can see, and teammates type guesses into the blanks. See how it plays.
6. Guess the emoji
10 min · Any, in teams people · both
How it works: Show a string of emoji that spells out a film or phrase and have teams race to decode it.
Why it works: Five minutes, instantly understood, and a good warm-up before the bigger games.
7. Logo quiz
10 min · Any, in teams people · both
How it works: Start with a tight crop of a brand logo and zoom out until a team names it.
Why it works: Everyone thinks they'll get them all, and nobody does.
With TeamPlay: Logo Zoom does the zooming, and quicker answers score more. See how it plays.
8. Rebus puzzles
10 min · Any, in teams people · both
How it works: Show picture puzzles where the words and images spell out a phrase, and let teams race to crack them.
Why it works: A brain-teaser that suits Friday-afternoon energy: short bursts, big payoff.
9. Baby photo guess
10–15 min · 8–30 people · both
How it works: Collect childhood photos from volunteers during the week and reveal them one at a time on Friday. Everyone guesses who's who.
Why it works: Some prep, but it's the game people still talk about months later.
10. Charades
15 min · 6+ people · both
How it works: One person acts out a phrase in silence while their team guesses against the clock. Use office themes for extra laughs.
Why it works: Zero setup and it gets everyone out of their chairs at the end of the week.
11. Desk-item show and tell
10 min · Up to 15 people · both
How it works: Everyone brings (or grabs) one object from their desk and explains why it's there.
Why it works: Works brilliantly on camera, and the stories behind odd mugs and plants are always better than expected.
12. Flag and map quiz
10–15 min · Any, in teams people · both
How it works: Teams name a country from its flag, then point to it on a map.
Why it works: Global teams love it, and someone always confidently places Belgium in the wrong continent.
With TeamPlay: Pin It! has teams drop a pin on a borderless map, and closer pins score more. See how it plays.
13. Rank it
10 min · Any, in teams people · both
How it works: Give teams a list (snacks by calories, inventions by age) and ask them to put it in order.
Why it works: Every team ends up in a heated debate, which is exactly what Friday is for.
14. Rock, paper, scissors tournament
5–10 min · 10+ people · in person
How it works: Pair everyone up. Losers join the winner's cheering squad and follow them to the next round.
Why it works: The noisiest five minutes of the week, and a perfect closer.
15. Virtual escape room
20–25 min · 4+ people · both
How it works: Teams work through a chain of puzzle locks to escape before time runs out.
Why it works: A bigger centrepiece for the last Friday of the month or a team milestone.
With TeamPlay: Bigger rooms get a different lock per team, and the room only escapes when every lock is open. See how it plays.
A simple Fun Friday plan
- Same time every week. 4pm on Friday for 30–45 minutes is the usual slot. Consistency is what turns it into a habit.
- Three games per session. Something quick to warm up (guess the emoji), something competitive in the middle (quiz or survey says), and something funny to finish (finish the sentence).
- Rotate the host. A different person picks the games each week, so it never becomes one person's job.
- Keep a monthly leaderboard. A small prize for the top team at the end of the month keeps people coming back.
- Include remote colleagues. Choose games people can play from their own device, so dialling in isn't a second-class experience.
