Rebus puzzles, played as a team

A rebus is a picture puzzle that hides a word or phrase - letters and pictures arranged so their position or size spells it out. In TeamPlay every team sees the same rebus the moment the clock starts, works it out in its private chat and types the phrase. Answers are checked automatically, and the fastest right teams score the most.

How a round works

  1. A picture puzzle appears. Every team sees the same rebus - words and pictures hiding a phrase - the moment the clock starts.
  2. Say what it hides. Work it out in your team chat and type the phrase. Your team gets 5 guesses - nothing gets replaced, and your first right one scores.
  3. Faster pays more. Checked automatically - the fastest right teams score +30 / 20 / 10, and every right answer scores.

Best for

  • Teams that like to think out loud together
  • The puzzle slot in the middle of a session
  • Groups where general knowledge varies - rebuses need none

Questions

What is a rebus puzzle?

A puzzle where pictures, letters and their arrangement stand for a phrase. "Head" written over "heels", for example, is "head over heels".

Does the phrase have to be typed exactly?

Answers are checked against the accepted wordings, ignoring capitals and punctuation, and the host can override a verdict before awarding points.
