Kahoot alternatives for work teams

Kahoot! is a quiz platform built for learning: people play as individuals, and its team mode averages each team's members. If you want team building rather than a test, the better fit is a tool where teams play as teams. TeamPlay is one: every game is team against team, players answer on their own devices, and it runs puzzles, icebreakers and social games as well as trivia.

Where the difference shows up

Team play. In a quiz built for individuals, the strongest player carries the leaderboard and everyone else watches. TeamPlay scores teams: on a quiz each teammate taps an answer and the team's majority locks in, and on puzzles any teammate can type the answer while the team works it out in a private chat. The point is the conversation inside the team.

More than quizzes. A team session needs a shape - something to warm the room up, something to compete on, something to laugh at. TeamPlay groups its games that way (warm-up, quiz, puzzle, social), so an hour can open with Two Truths, move through a logo quiz and a rebus race, and close on Survey Says.

No question writing. Every built-in game ships with its own questions and shuffles them per session, so a host can run a full session without writing anything. Custom quizzes are there when you want your own.

When Kahoot! is the better choice

  • You are running training and want to check what each person knows, with individual results.
  • You want a large library of ready-made quizzes on academic or specialist topics.
  • Your organisation already licenses Kahoot! 360 for its trainers.

Kahoot alternatives worth knowing

TeamPlay

Live team-vs-team games for workplaces. The host shares their screen, players join from their own devices, and a session runs as an hour with a shape: warm-up, quiz, puzzle, social. Best when the goal is the team, not the test.

Kahoot!

The best-known live quiz. Strongest for training and learning - checking what people know, with a big library of ready-made quizzes. Individual leaderboards are its natural shape.

Crowdpurr

Live trivia, bingo and polls for events, priced by audience size. A good fit for large one-off events run by an event team.

AhaSlides

A presentation tool with quizzes, polls and spinner wheels built in. Best when the games live inside a slide deck you are already presenting.

Mentimeter and Slido

Live polling and Q&A for meetings and all-hands. Quizzes exist, but they are a feature of an audience-engagement tool rather than the point.

Water Cooler Trivia

Weekly trivia played on your own time, by email or Slack. Good for a distributed team with no shared meeting slot; not a live game.
